TERRORISM CASES

We successfully obtained a dismissal in favor of one of the airline defendants in the In Re: Lower Manhattan Disaster Site Litigation.[*74] Marguerite Peck received security clearance from the Federal Aviation Administration and other federal authorities to represent the airline. She devised a defense strategy which led to dismissal of the action against our client before trial.

Similarly, in the case of McMillan v. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey[*75] we obtained dismissal of the action against the Port Authority where the plaintiff claimed injuries from a terrorist bomb placed in a Port Authority building. In Steinfeld v. Mobil Oil[*76] we successfully defended the defendant Mobil Oil from civil liability arising out of the bombing of a Mobil building on East 42nd Street.

We also successfully represented environmental firms in a mass tort arising out of alleged exposure to toxic substances during the clean up and maintenance work at buildings in the vicinity of Ground Zero following the 911 terrorist attacks in the case of In Re: Lower Manhattan Disaster Site Litigation.
